I like to stress to customers that my designs are totally bespoke, meaning your site is designed and coded completely from scratch and like no other.
Do you think when you go to a large web company you are getting an original site? Possibly, but there is a good chance your site is built on an already existing template. Bigger companies cannot afford the resources to code and design every project from scratch, hence you site may not be original at all.
True, the templates may be tweaked slightly differently, but there are probably other people out there with similar looking sites. The Web is a fiercely competitive market, and originality can be the difference between success and failure.
Although I do not claim to be a graphic designer, nor do i offer logo design as part of a package, a few of my clients have utilised a logo I've created to incorporate the 'look and feel' of their new website. Some have even had my logo's signwritten on vans, which can really overhaul a coroprate identity.
Not everybody needs a new logo, if at all, but this is a service that I can offer for a much more modest price than most. What's more once the logo is designed it is available to use exclusively by the customer.
One area I excel in which most Web Designers hate is the writing of original text. I have a lot of experience here, and for clients who are concerened with SEO, original 'Google-friendly' text is a must.
You can literally half your SEO costs simply by having the right text on your page - in the right place. Again, this is not a service that everyone requires, but for those who do it can be invaluable...

My specialist areas of design are XHTML, CSS and Javascript. Any site I create is designed to be search engine friendly, and will utilise basic SEO concepts. Most of my sites are designed using Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash.
On a personal note, when I'm not designing websites I am also a keen musician and a general lover of music. I live and work in Stockton on Tees, however location is not an issue for most projects, and I am prepared to travel if need be.
